Fast Growing Evergreen Spacing forPrivacy Hedge

Best Privacy Trees to Prevent Land Erosion

Privacy is often desirable on a steep edge of a property where land utility is minimal, land erosion wants to take away the soil and there is also a danger of slip and fall.

Although not an evergreen, the Dapple Willow works well for privacy. Is an even much more ferocious grower than the Weeping Willow. Naturally it wants to grow as a bush, but it can be trained into a small tree. In a bush form and without pruning it tends to be a 10’x10’ thick hedge with beautiful pink leaves in the Spring and red stems in the Winter.

It has an invasive root system and can absorb a lot of water. Would definitely avoid planting it near swimming pools or septic tanks. However, in areas of land erosion and dangerous land drop areas it can be of much utility.

If year-round hedge or privacy is still desirable, planting a row of  Arborvitae or Cypress trees in front of the Dapple Willows is a good idea.
