Can Eastern White Pines and Green Giant Thuja Planted Together for Privacy?
In our experience Green Giant Thuja and Eastern White Pines are both strong choices for privacy. The Thujas are more popular as their smaller size better caters to most suburban Acre lots.
At times there are existing large Eastern White Pines, but only a few trees and there is a desire to create a full green no-see-through privacy hedge. In such cases it makes sense to plant Green Giant Thujas and utilize the privacy of the White Pines until the Green Giants mature. In a few years the Green Giants will form a solid wall. At that point the decision will have to be made if the White Pines should be pruned back significantly or completely removed.
The two species work well together to create privacy. Although the Green Giants are still far from maturity, the trees already provide some practical relief from onlookers.
