Fast Growing Evergreen Spacing forPrivacy Hedge

Eastern Red Cedar for Privacy: the Native Choice

Eastern Red Cedar is Native to the US Eastern half of the continent with arguably most common in Kentucky.

It is not commonly used in landscape for privacy as there are faster growing and more ornamental choices, such as the Green Giant Arborvitae, Murray Cypress or the White Pine, but it is an optimal choice for those who want to plant a native species.

When Eastern Red Cedar is grown in a nursery, it is sheared to be a dense looking tree and to work well for privacy.

One of the advantages of planting  native species is that it is almost impossible to kill and will survive under the most unusual circumstances.

We at Victory Gardens just started experimenting with growing Eastern Red Cedars with hopes of having some available for sale in about a year.
